Okay, so maybe you're not really an idiot if you don't understand the concept of a roundabout, since they're kinda new in our part of the world. However, like them or not, roundabouts are here to stay, and there will only be more of them built in the future. So, to keep you from being an idiot, here are some simple instructions on how to use a roundabout:
- Slow down as you approach the roundabout
- Look to your left and yield to any traffic already in the roundabout (that's what those handy Yield signs outside the roundabout mean)
- Once you are in the roundabout, you have the right of way (that's why there are no Yield signs inside the roundabout)
- Unless absolutely necessary, DO NOT stop in the roundabout, as it’s designed to keep traffic flowing (that's why there are no Stop signs inside the roundabout -- this rule will keep you from being rear-ended by people like me who are not expecting you to stop)
- Do not drive straight over the top of the center section of the roundabout (even if you think you're more important than the rest of us in that big-@$$ truck of yours -- that defeats the whole purpose of the roundabout and the keen center section)
This applies at virtually all roundabouts (especially the one by my house).

Oh my gosh. I was just going to do a post on this! It's a huge problem in my neighborhood. They don't get the yielding part. They think just because the car in front of them went then it must be their turn to go too. And the one after that, and the one after that. Drives me bonkers!!!
